Young Adults Forge Interfaith Friendships at Catholic200SG forum

Secretary-General, Mr Derek Tan led three youths from Taoist Federation Youth Group and joined 160 young adults from different religions at the DialogueSpaceSG interfaith forum organized by the Archdiocesan Catholic Council for Interreligious Dialogue as part of the Catholic200SG celebration on the afternoon of May 23, 2021. The event was partnered by Singapore Management University Wee Kim Wee Centre (SMU WKWC) and the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS) and supported by the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY).

The Insightful inputs from the panelists and the dynamic discussion between youths from different faiths help better understand topics like the importance of social dialogues and the relevancy of religion in an increasingly secular world.

The discussions were later summarized and presented at the main floor at the end of the discussions. A common theme that emerged was that dialogue should not be an end in and of itself instead it is a mean to reach a better tomorrow by encouraging joint actions. It was very clear that during the dialogue the participants felt strongly in favour of cooperating with others of different faiths to reach out to brothers and sisters (regardless of their beliefs) in time of need.
